First Impression: Pitango Risotto Chicken & Garlic

Pitango Risotto Chicken & Garlic Review | www.fussfreecooking.com

Things can get pretty crazy this time of the year. My much delayed “spring” cleaning, Christmas shopping, baking and a long list of other tasks to get myself ready to welcome the festive season.  I usually go easy on the cooking department especially after a long day of running errands in town, the extreme bicep and triceps “workout” for carrying multiple groceries bags and the last thing you want to do when you come home is to be in the kitchen cooking.

Even for an avid home cook like myself, I confess I have one of those days that I don’t want to do a full on a cooking, days when ready made meals and sauces are my cooking best friends which brings me to my new discovery of Pitango Risotto.

Product: Pitango Risotto

Product claim: Made from the finest fresh organic ingredients, cooked in small batches so we can obtain the high quality and good taste of each pack of risotto. The Pitango Risotto is fat free, gluten free and no added preservatives. Vegetarian option is available.

Price: $7.99 for a 500g-packet, 2 servings

Thoughts: I must admit it was my first time having ready made risotto. Before this, I have been relying on my version of convenient risotto which still requires some stirring time. If you want an almost instant risotto meal, the Pitango Risotto definitely gets a tick in the convenience department. Basically, all it takes is to be reheated in the microwave for 3 to 4 minutes, add some simple accompaniment such as salad or grilled meat and you will have a decent meal on the table in no time.

What about the taste? I got the chicken and garlic risotto and it was perfectly seasoned and tasted homemade which is a plus.  I have the habit of reading the ingredient list on the food I consume and surprisingly this one was actually straight forward, no scientific jargon that is foreign to me. And it tasted exactly that too.

Stockist: You can find Pitango Organic Chicken & Garlic Risotto and Pitango Organic Pumpkin, Leek & Spinach Risotto from Coles and Woolworths.
