This week I got most of the fresh ingredients from the Orange Farmers Market which coincided with the Orange Apple Festivals (more about this later). As the Orange Farmers Market only happens on every second Saturday of each month, I tried to stockpile my ingredients on each trip.
Don’t know about you, but whenever I came back the farmers market, I was very eager to cook everything that I bought on the same day. I am really excited about my loot on this trip. So here it is, my loot for the week:-
(1) Mixed apples from the Thornbrook Orchard, Nashdale NSW.
(2) Purple potatoes from The Farm Gate by Nashdale Fruit Co. – According to Katie, the owner, they are the waxy kind which are suitable for roasting or boiling for making potato salad. However, the longer they cook the less purply they become….roasting may retain they colour better.
(3) Lamb backstrap tenderloin from Nanima Farm Lamb – Still thinking what am I suppose to do with this. It was a bit of an impulse purchase but every once in a while, I love to treat myself with a good piece of meat.
(5) Garlic also from The Farm Gate by Nashdale Fruit Co. – This is pretty much assume. 🙂
